Police said four break-ins on Copperwood Way may be related.
Police said they are working to obtain the video of a possible serial burglar after the homeowner of a residence on Copperwood Way in King's Contrivance used an Internet home video camera to remotely observe someone breaking into his home. The homeowner used the remote view feature of the camera to watch someone break in through his basement window and rummage through bills and paperwork, according to police. The homeowner was alerted to the break in after a motion detector was set off, said police, but he didn't believe anything was taken. The break in was one of four that have been reported over the past four days in the 7000 block of Copperwood Way and police said they are investigating whether the incidents are related. The first …

"I told my boss today, here’s the situation—we have a tree on the house." - Paul Caci, Columbia.
At about 10:30 p.m on Friday night, in the midst of the dramatic storm, Paul Caci of King’s Contrivance said he heard a large crash, as if something in his garage fell over. He soon realized it wasn’t in his garage—a large pine tree had fallen on his home. He and his wife ran out in the pouring rain and looked at the tree, which had come to rest against his chimney. Do you have any crazy storm stories? Tell us in comments. Caci said he went up into the attic to check for holes in his roof, but there were none. "The only damage seems to be to the gutters," sad Caci. "We got real lucky." On Monday, Caci had hired a tree service that brought a crane in to remove the tree. Workers from Stansbury Tree Service removed the limbs and then lifted …

Advocates for Kings Contrivance village center said they are thrilled action is moving forward for Corner Stable, which will have its liquor license reviewed at a Howard County liquor board meeting on Tuesday, July 26, at 5 p.m. at the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive in Ellicott City.
