The two suspects in a string of door kick-in burglaries were arrested in Florida, after skipping a bail hearing in November.

The man and woman suspected in a string of daytime door kick-in burglaries in Howard County have been arraigned in Circuit Court and are being held without bail. Joseph Leo Baumgarten, of Pasadena, and Dianna Lynn Marketti, who is listed in court documents at addresses in Dundalk and Glen Burnie, were extradited to Howard County last month after being arrested in Bay County, FL. The two were wanted by the Howard County's Sheriff's office for almost two months after skipping a bail hearing on Nov. 15. Baumgarten was arraigned in Howard County Circuit Court on Thursday, according to court records. He faces 25 charges in the string of burglaries in late September. Marketti, 30, also faces 25 charges for her alleged involvement. Court …

Since nothing else has worked to prevent them from their life of crime, why not chop off their hands so they can't steal, and pluck out her eyeballs so she can't drive? Obviously, the above isn't the answer, but our current system of justice isn't working. Criminals commit crimes because it is easy-picking for them most of time, with little or no consequence. I think we should make the punishment…   more ›

Search for Suspected Door Kick-in Burglars Continues

Sheriff's Office says leads dried up after investigating "kind of a flophouse."

The search for a pair of suspected burglars wanted in Howard County for their possible involvement in a string of daytime door kick-in burglaries continues after they failed to show up at a bail hearing on Nov. 15, law enforcement officials said. The Howard County Sheriff's Office is leading the search for Joseph Leo Baumgarten, of Pasadena, and Dianna Marketti, of Dundalk. "We sent some deputies out, they backtracked them out all the way to the Dundalk area where they hit a dead end at an abandoned foreclosed home... kind of a flophouse," said Mark Verderaime, of the Howard County Sheriff's Office. "That's where it went cold." "They're still looking into it. [Deputies] have probably hit three, four locations, and talked to some people, …

Police Release Mugshots of Suspected Door Kick-in Burglars

Joseph Baumgarten, 40, and Dianna Marketti, 30, are wanted after failing to appear at a bail hearing.

Howard County Police have released the mugshots of the two suspects wanted in a string of door kick-in burglaries throughout Howard County. Joseph Leo Baumgarten, of Pasadena, and Dianna Marketti, of Dundalk, were arrested on Oct. 4 after police said they tracked them down through a set of stolen Batlimore Ravens tickets. The two were charged with 25 counts each related to four daytime door kick-in burglaries and suspected in ten other burglaries that occurred in September, according to police. However, a court commissioner, Oreon W. Pinkston II, set the bail for Marketti and Baumgarten at $15,000 on Oct. 5 and both posted it that day. On Nov. 15, the two suspects failed to appear at a bond hearing scheduled to adjust their bail, …

Suspected Door Kick-In Burglars Sought By Police, Fail to Appear at Hearing

Joseph Leo Baumgarten allegedly attacked Dianna Lynn Marketti after the two were released on bail.

The duo suspected of committing a string of daytime door kick-in burglaries throughout Howard County may be on the lam after failing to appear at a bail hearing on Nov. 15 in Howard County Circuit Court. The suspects, Joseph Leo Baumgarten, of Pasadena, and Dianna Lynn Marketti, of Dundalk, were arrested by Howard County Police on Oct. 4 and charged with stealing more than $22,000 in firearms, jewelry and electronics from four Howard County residences, but later released the next day on $15,000 bail. Howard County Police said the duo is suspected in 10 more burglaries that they haven’t yet been charged in. The Nov. 15 hearing was scheduled to adjust their bail, but neither appeared, according to assistant state's attorney Natasha Byus. “…

Court Commissioner's Office Declines Comment on Suspected Burglars' Bail

Would not say why $15,000 bail was set for suspected door kick-in burglars.

The Howard County District Court Commissioner's office has declined comment on why a $15,000 bail was set for each of two suspected burglars charged in four door kick-in burglaries. The two also are believed linked to 10 other kick-ins. "We don't provide comments to the media," said an official who declined to provide her full name. The $15,000 bail, which some consider too low, was set by Commissioner Oreon W. Pinkston II, according to court documents. Pinkston was not available to comment on why the bail was set. Patch continues to seek a response from Howard County Administrative Commissioner Megan Dickerson. Patch commenters expressed outrage over the suspected burglars' being released on $15,000 bail in a previous story. "The bail …

Travion as I stated in another comment I know the legal system very well and have an associates degree in criminal justice. There are no threats being made so don't put words in my mouth. Government officials are paid for by our tax dollars and we have an absolute right to know why they made what seems to be a very subjective response without checking the facts with the DA's office. They could be…   more ›

Suspected Door Kick-in Burglars Released on $15,000 Bail

Police said the duo stole more than $22,000 in firearms, jewelry and electronics.

The day after two suspected burglars were arrested and accused of of stealing more than $22,000 in firearms, jewelry and electronics from at least four Howard County residences, they were released on $15,000 bail, court officials said this week.  Howard County prosecutors said they tried to increase the bond, but without success. “I don’t believe $15,000 would be the first number that came to mind,” said Natasha M. Byus, the Howard County assistant state’s attorney handling the case. “I did not have an opportunity to speak with the commissioner before the bond was set.” Both Joseph Leo Baumgarten, 40, and Dianna Lynn Marketti, 30, posted the full bail on Oct. 5 after being charged with 25 counts each, including first-, second- and fourth…

AML and all other posters, have you noticed this issue has just disappeared? Right in front of us, and despite this thread and contacting Ulman. Something has been very squashed. I would like to reopen this wound, together. Any takers? Please realize that is exactly what they hope we will do. It is NOT too late. We gave those in positions of authority to respond and they have dismissed us. Is …   more ›

Police: Stolen Ravens Tickets Lead to Door Kick-in Burglaries Arrests

Police charged a man and a woman in the daytime door kick-in burglaries in Howard County.

Police have arrested and charged a man and a woman they said they believe were involved in a string of daytime door kick-in burglaries throughout Howard County after tracking the suspects using a pair of stolen Baltimore Ravens tickets. Police said Joseph Leo Baumgarten, 40, of Pasadena, and Dianna Marketti, 30, of Dundalk, were charged early Friday with committing four burglaries, but police said they may have been involved with 10 additional cases. In each incident, the suspect or suspects would kick in a door, work their way to the master bedroom, ransack it and steal jewelry and other valuables, police said. Baumgarten and Marketti were arrested at a traffic stop Thursday night. They were charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree…

Yes sadly he is my child's biological father. A mistake made many years ago and I am more sorry for the pain my daughter carriers than my own. I agree with you in regards to mistakes in life as long as there is a lesson learned and changes made. He is well beyond learning any lesson or changing. He is an institutionalized individual who knows nothing more than crime and prison life. It was nice …   more ›
