Beltsville Man Identified as Victim of Fatal Fall in Wheaton

The 31-year-old construction worker died Friday after falling one story at a building site.

Montgomery County police have identified the 31-year-old man who fell to his death March 8 at a Wheaton construction site as José Roberto Lemus-Flores of the 3500 block of Powder Mill Road in Beltsville. A police spokesperson said Lemus-Flores had been walking along an exposed third story decking when a gust of wind caused him to lose his footing. He fell one story onto a concrete pad and was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred at the former site of the First Baptist Church (10914 Georgia Ave.) where a six-story, 232-unit residential apartment project called Solaire Wheaton is under construction. South Laurel Teen Charged in Wheaton Deli Armed Robbery

Police found the suspect less than 10 minutes after receiving the report of the crime.

Montgomery County police caught up with an 18-year-old from South Laurel less than 10 minutes after he was suspected of robbing a Wheaton deli at gunpoint Friday afternoon. Damien West, of the 9400 block of Rosemarin Way in South Laurel, is charged with armed robbery, the use of a handgun in the commission of a felony, possession of a handgun, and theft of $1,000 to under $10,000. West walked into the deli at 11413 Georgia Avenue on Feb. 8, showed a handgun to the 47-year-old female employee and demanded money, police said in a statement. After the employee gave the suspect money from the cash register, police said, West ordered her to lie on the floor before he fled the scene. UPDATE: Missing 91-Year-Old Silver Spring Man Found

John Johnson had gone missing from a care facility on Musgrove Road.

Update, Nov. 19: Johnson was located in Washington, D.C., safe and unharmed, according to police.  Original post, Nov. 18: Montgomery County police are seeking the public's help in locating a 91-year-old man who went missing from the Calverton area of Silver Spring on Sunday. According to police, John Johnson was last seen at a care facility at 2501 Musgrove Road around 12:30 p.m. Johnson is described as 5' 8" 165-pound black male. He is said to be balding with gray hair on the sides of his head. At the time he was last seen, police said Johnson was wearing a black hat, a black jacket with white pin stripes, and black sweat pants. Silver Spring Woman Found Dead in Bed Under Fallen Tree

A Montgomery County resident was killed in the severe storm, authorities say.

  A 71-year-old Montgomery County woman was found dead Saturday, the apparent victim of a tree that fell through the roof of her house and onto her bed during a severe storm. Montgomery County Police were investigating the discovery by Fire and Rescue workers who responded to a call for a tree downed on a home in Silver Spring. Rescue workers had to force themselves into a locked home on the 10000 block of Grant Avenue. Once inside, they discovered the woman's body, unresponsive, in a bedroom on the second floor of the house, according to police. Authorities said she was apparently killed by a large Maple tree falling through the roof of the building and onto her bed sometime during the night. Police will release more information on the …
