  Laurel:  Police say a man asked for a room at the Sleep Inn, on the 10100 block of Washington Blvd. on Oct. 25 at about 1:45 p.m. When the clerk told him that there were no rooms, the man asked to use the restroom, according to police. When the clerk said there was no restroom available, according to police, the man leaped over the counter, grabbed the clerk, pushed him to the floor and showed a gun. At that point, according to police, another man appeared at the front door and the first man sole cash from the register. The victim said both men fled toward the back of the building.   Columbia: Nothing was reported missing at a house on the 6100 block of Wooded Run Drive, but when residents returned home from a trip, they said they found a back window had been shattered sometime between Oct. 12 and Oct. 15. According to Howard County police, there were pry marks on rear sliding glass doors and on both sides of the window. Several rooms were ransacked, according to police, but nothing has been reported stolen. Police responded to a house on the 10200 block of Hickory Ridge Road just before 5 p.m. on Oct. 18. When they arrived, a resident said she saw a suspect leaving her son’s bedroom. Police found a subject who matched the description given by the victim. Thief Steals Cash Register in Columbia: HoCo Crime Roundup

  Columbia: Two businesses and a home in Columbia were burglarized last week, according to police.  At about 8:20 a.m. on Friday, police say a suspect smashed the front door of Oak Tree Furniture, on the 9100 block of Red Branch Road, with a concrete stone. The suspect took money from one register, and stole a second one. Police say the second register was stolen because the suspect could not open it. Police say a suspect used a brick to smash the front glass door of Tropical Tan on the 6900 block of Oakland Mills Road at 11 p.m. Thursday night. The victim reported coins stolen.  Suspects entered a screened-in porch on the 5000 block of Whetstone Road on Sunday between 1:45 and 9 p.m., according to police, then kicked open a back door to …
