The new restaurant will feature authentic Mexican fare such as tacos al pastor, barbacoa and 100 percent agave margaritas.
With menu items such as flautas de puerco (pulled pork in crispy tortillas with pico de gallo), tacos al pastor and barbacoa enchiladas, it's hard not to get hungry thinking about Xitomate opening in Columbia. And we didn't even mention the $7 agave margaritas. Columbia's newest restaurant will have a soft opening for customers at the former location of Donna's (5850 Waterloo Road) on Wednesday. "We are an authentic Mexican restaurant," said Octavio Moreno, the general manger for Xitomate as well as Columbia's Azul 17. "The food is authentic and we make everything fresh." The new restaurant is owner Julio Soto's latest concept. Soto also owns Azul 17 and Lily's Mexican Market. Moreno said the food and drink offerings at Xitomate will be …

The lakefront restaurant will be getting its first renovations in 25 years, according to its president.

Meyer, president of Clyde's Restaurant Group, told Patch the restaurant will be on a new lease and will see several changes from renovations starting in late January. "It has been over 25 years since we were able to renovate the place, and we just needed to do it," Meyer said. The specifics of the renovation have not been finalized, but he gave a hint at what changes are coming. "We're trying to do as much garden-to-table and handmade food as possible," said executive chef Daniel Wecker.
Outside of the big northeast cities, finding a historical setting for a nice romantic meal can be difficult. Not in historic Elkridge. The Elkridge Furnace Inn, on Furnace Avenue, has a building older than the United States, according to executive chef Daniel Wecker. "We're part of a historic complex," Wecker told Patch, citing the original furnace structure, which was built in 1744, and two wood buildings he believes were once slaves quarters. Wecker makes sure the menu for his restaurant is anything but rustic, as he constantly adds new items with the changing seasons. "We have several gardens here–all organic–and at least one component out of a menu item is coming out of the garden," Wecker said. In addition to growing vegetables, …
