Poll: Should MD 32 Expand to Four Lanes Through Clarksville?

A recent fatal accident has brought the stretch of road between I-70 and 108 in Clarksville under examination.

  After an Ellicott City man was killed in a fatal accident on Route 32 in Clarksville on Nov. 13 the safety of the high speed, two lane road has been called into question. Currently the stretch of road where the fatal accident occurred is a two-lane road that experiences traffic during rush hour. On Nov. 13, the fatal accident was caused by the driver of a flatbed truck losing control of the vehicle while driving southbound, skidding into the northbound lane and striking a Jeep driven by an Ellicott City man who later died at the hospital, according to police.  A Maryland State Highway Administration spokesperson said officials are still examining the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine exactly what happened. Ever since they changed the time and cycle of the lights, getting to the 108 exit off of 32 is near impossible around 5-6 pm. The back up goes all the way down 32 and what used to take only a few minutes to get to the light at 108, now takes about 20. UPDATE: Driver Dead in Route 32 Crash

Route 32 reopened around 2 p.m. after being closed since 8 a.m. to investigate a fatal crash.

  Update - 2:10 p.m. Route 32 has reopend after an approximately 6 hour investigation into a fatal crash near 108 in Clarksville, according to police. UPDATE - 11:25 a.m. The driver of the Jeep involved in Tuesday morning's crash on Route 32 has died, reported police. Michael Paul Dumonceau, 68, of Ellicott City was pronounced dead at Howard County General Hospital after being transported in critical condition, according to police. Police said Route 32 will remain closed in both directions as police investigate the crash and it is not expected to reopen for a number of hours. Truck Overturns on Route 32 Exit Tuesday

The driver was injured.

  A truck overturned on the Interstate 95 exit to MD 32 on Tuesday morning in Savage, injuring the driver. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital, but the extent of the drivers' injuries were unknown, according to a state police spokesperson. The spokesperson did not know why the truck overturned or what contents the truck was carrying. Around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon police and highway officials had turned the truck back up on its wheels and were clearing the shoulder of large boxes. Howard County Fire and Rescue Services first responded to the incident around 11 a.m. The Route 32 exit was open around 12:30 p.m., with police directing traffic around the incident.
