City of Laurel Crime: Police Investigate Gun Threat, Vandals Shut off Power

The following is a rundown of notable arrests and police responses in the City of Laurel from March 23-29, 2013. Incident details are provided by the Laurel Police Department. Arrests do not necessarily indicate convictions. Saturday, March 23 FIRE, 14500 Laurel Place (Empire Buffet), 11:46 a.m.: Officers located a fire to the rear of the Empire Buffet. The fire department responded to put out the fire, and a fire investigator was called to investigate. Any information on this fire please call (301) 498-0092.  DUI ARREST, Washington Blvd at Gorman Ave, 1:12 a.m.: Officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle. The following is a rundown of reported crimes and police responses in the City of Laurel from March 17-22, 2013. Incident details are provided by the Laurel Police Department. Sunday, March 17 Calls for service: 147 BURGLARY, 14900-BLK Ashford Court, 3:52PM: A citizen of the neighborhood observed a suspicious person to the rear of a vacant townhome in the neighborhood. This individual immediately contacted the Laurel Police department who responded promptly. Once on scene Officers discovered that the vacant home was not secure and could observe movement within. $10,000 Reward Offered in Stabbing Death of Laurel High School Grad

Edmond A. St. Clair, 21, was killed on Feb. 16 at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.

Authorities are now offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case of a 2010 Laurel High School graduate stabbed to death on Feb. 16. Edmond A. St. Clair, 21, of Severn was a junior majoring in biology at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore when he was killed in an on-campus fight. St. Clair and two other men—identified by The Baltimore Sun as his brother, Isaiah St. Clair, and friend, Tre Hardy—had reportedly been driving in a car that night when they stopped and got into a fight with several men in the street. Laurel High School Alum Fatally Stabbed at UMD Eastern Shore

A 2010 Laurel High School graduate and University of Maryland, Eastern Shore student was stabbed to death in an on-campus fight Saturday, The Baltimore Sun reports. Edmond A. St. Clair, 21, from Severn was a junior majoring in biology at UMES. Family told the paper he was an honor roll student who ran track in high school and who aspired to become a surgeon. According to the Sun, the stabbing occurred around 9 p.m. Saturday at the UMES campus in Princess Anne, MD.  St. Clair and two other men—identified as his brother, Isaiah St. Clair, and friend, Tre Hardy—had reportedly been driving in a car when they stopped and became engaged in a fight with several men in the street. City of Laurel Crime: Boyfriend Punches Pregnant Woman, Man Stabbed in Back

The following is a rundown of reported crimes and police responses in the City of Laurel from Feb. 3-9, 2013. Incident details are provided by Laurel Police Department. SUNDAY, FEB. 3 Calls for Service: 110 SHOPLIFTER ARREST, 300-BLK Domer Avenue, 1:27 p.m.: A 45-year-old suspect was arrested for shoplifting at the CVS. MONDAY, FEB. 4 Calls for Service: 142  DOMESTIC ASSAULT, 500-BLK Ninth Street, 7:16 p.m.: A pregnant victim called to report being struck in the face by her boyfriend. The victim reported being punched in the face several times. Columbia Teen Sentenced to 60 Years for Long Reach Stabbing

Xavier Trevon Bates pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in September.

  A 19-year-old Columbia man was sentenced to life in prison with all but 60 years suspended at Howard County Circuit Court on Friday for stabbing a 17 year old to death in July of 2011. Xavier Trevon Bates pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Christian LenDell Massey-Hall, of Columbia, in September. "Today's verdict gave me some closure," said Christine Massey, Hall's mother, in a statement, "but I am still so very devastated. Nothing ever will be the same again." Massey was inside her Long Reach apartment when Bates charged in chasing her son, wielding a knife. She struggled to pull Bates off her son as he stabbed Hall at least 10 times in the chest, back and arms, eventually killing him, according to the statement of the facts …

Savage Man Stabbed in North Laurel Thursday Night

Police say one man is dead after an argument turned physical at a mobile home park in North Laurel.

Howard County Police charged a 20-year-old Laurel man in the stabbing death of a Savage man early Thursday night in North Laurel, according to a press release from the department. According to the statement, officers responded to a report of an assault at the Midway Mobile Home Park on the 10000 block of North 2nd Street. Police found Robert Lynn Foster, 46, of Savage, lying near the entrance of the mobile home park suffering from a stab wound. Personnel transported Foster to Laurel Regional Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Witnesses on the scene identified Robert Tasker, of Laurel, as the suspect and police took him into custody. Witnesses told police that the two men both knew each other and were arguing before the …

Opening Statements Made in Stabbing Trial

The trial of Anthony Patrick Parker began Monday in Ellicott City.

The trial for a man charged in a stabbing death in September began yesterday with attorneys for both sides making opening statements in Howard County Circuit Court in Ellicott City. Anthony Patrick Parker, 53, of Woodlawn, is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree assault in the death the Philip Wise, of no permanent address, stemming from a Sept. 13 altercation at Fall River Terrace apartment complex in Harper's Choice in Columbia. Police said witnesses reported seeing several people in the vicinity of the incident with some fleeing in a silver van.  The vehicle was later found on Columbia Road with blood stains on the fender.
