Falling Death at National Harbor Hotel Apparent Suicide

The medical examiner confirmed the name of the 27-year-old victim.

The death of a young woman who plunged from a mezzanine level at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Oxon Hill on New Year's Day has been ruled an apparent suicide, according to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Leyana Nabi, 27, of Ashburn, Va., was seen falling from a  balcony in the hotel at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Prince George's County police and fire/EMS departments.  Officials at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said today that Nabi died from head injuries sustained in the fall and they ruled the death an apparent suicide. Nabi had entered a closed off lounge area before falling 18 to 20 feet  to the atrium level inside the hotel, Amie Gorrell, a spokeswoman for the hotel…
