Police: Facebook Post Leads to Arrest in Stolen Credit Card Shopping Spree

The two charged were identified after police posted their pictures on Facebook.

Pictures posted to the Howard County Police Department’s Facebook page led to the arrests of two people who police say stole credit cards and used them around town, according to a statement.  Stephanie Nicole Stuart, 25, of Essex and Craig Kenneth England, 40, of Catonsville, face multiple counts of theft and credit card fraud after two cards were reported stolen on Feb. 8 from an employee at the Johns Hopkins Medical Building in Columbia, police said. During the investigation, police said they determined that credit cards had been used later that day in stores in Ellicott City and Columbia, including at Target, Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Office Depot, Game Stop and Advanced Auto Parts. Thieves Captured on Video Stealing Cooking Grease

The theft was from an Oxon Hill restaurant.

Two suspects stole cooking grease from an Oxon Hill restaurant and now Prince George's County police are trying to identify the suspects. On March 13, around 10:19 a.m., two men drove up to the rear of a restaurant in the 5100 block of Indian Head Highway in a blue Chevy GMS delivery truck. The suspects broke the lock to a container holding cooking oil and siphoned the grease out into another container.  The truck had a temporary registration plate from an unknown state attached to it. Police are investigating this as a theft along with other cooking oil-related thefts in Prince George’s County. Police: Crime Ring Targeting Women Strikes in Howard County

Howard County police offer tips on protecting yourself from these crimes.

Police say a network of thieves has been breaking into cars near daycare centers, gyms, schools and parks up and down the East Coast. The thieves are using stolen information to steal money from victims’ bank accounts. According to police, eight cases that fit this trend were reported locally between December 2012 and February 2013. The victims told police they had left their purses in their car when they went to pick up kids; take a class at the gym; or walk dogs. All of the victims were women, according to police spokesperson Sherry Llewellyn. When they returned from their errands, police said, the victims returned to smashed windows and missing purses. Prince George's Police Search for Appliance Thief

The suspect has been reportedly been stealing appliances from recently constructed homes across the county.

Authorities have released the photograph of a vehicle connected to the burglaries of at least 25 home construction sites across Prince George's County. According to police, the suspect is stealing refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, and other appliances from newly constructed homes between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. The photos were taken at the most recent burglaries on March 11 in the 1700 block of Fernwood Drive in Capitol Heights. Based on the image, police believe the vehicle is a 1998 Chevy Tahoe or Suburban with Maryland tag number 7AY000. The thefts have resulted in an estimated $400,000 in damages and stolen goods, police said. Sites in Bowie and Upper Marlboro were also hit, among other locations. Anyone with information on …

Police Asking for Help Identifying Fraud Suspects

Police said the following two people have been using stolen credit cards around the county.

  Howard County police said they believe the man and woman pictured here have charged more than $3,000 to stolen credit cards at multiple stores in Howard County and are asking residents to help identify them. The credit cards were stolen from an employee's purse in an office building located in the 2900 block of Chestnut Hill Drive in Ellicott City on Feb. 8, police said. The pictures were captured on video surveillance cameras at the stores where the cards were used, according to police. The photos are of a man and a woman, as well as a gold van police said the suspect are driving. Police asked that anyone who recognizes the suspects call them at 410-313-3200 or submit a tip through the smartphone application, iWatchHowardCounty.
