Winter Winds -- But No Snow in Howard County

A wind advisory is in effect for the area.

Careful on the roads.  The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Howard County, warning that winds could gust as fast has 50 mph at times.  In addition to trash and patio furniture on the roads, high winds can also create problems for drivers according to NWS, especially those that are particularly light or tall. The good news – at least for some of us – is that there isn’t any snow on the way, according to Carrie Suffern at NWS. Tonight will be cold though. Temperatures will drop to about 24 degrees and winds should calm to about 13 mph according to NWS.

Washington Region Under Wind Advisory

Expect gusty winds until about 6 p.m. Friday, according to National Weather Service.

Friday's breezy wind forecast yesterday might turn dangerous with gusts up to 50 mph.  The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for much of the Washington region, including Montgomery, Frederick and Howard Counties and the city of Washington, D.C.  Winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph. The advisory will end at 6 p.m. Friday.  "Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution," said the alert.
