No injuries were reported, but the blaze caused some $25,000 of damage.
Fire ripped through a Laurel apartment on Fifth Street early Saturday morning, causing no reported injuries but inflicting thousands of dollars of damage. According to Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady, units from the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad and other stations were dispatched to the scene (937 Fifth St.) at around 12:45 a.m. When they arrived, firefighters encountered flames showing on the second story of the building but were able to extinguish the blaze quickly. An investigation into the cause of the fire remain ongoing. Brady said an estimated $25,000 in losses were incurred.

An early morning apartment fire has displaced a family in Laurel, according to Prince George's County Fire/EMS. The fire was reported shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday at 34 Orchard Town Court. Firefighters from Laurel and Beltsville, along with fire units from Howard, Anne Arundel and Montgomery Counties were alerted for fire coming from an apartment building at the Orchard Town Apartments. First arriving units reported fire showing from the top floor balcony of the three-story apartment building. Firefighters entered the building and began extinguishing the flames.
