A snow plow turned over on Route 29 at Route 100, according to the Howard County Police. The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. Thursday on the southbound side of the roadway, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. No injuries were reported and there were no other vehicles involved, according to police. The south off-ramp from Route 29 is currently closed, according to the SHA's interactive CHART map. Howard County Police said Friday they would increase patrols on the Route 29 footbridge in Town Center after two robberies were reported in less than a month on the bridge. A man was reportedly robbed while walking across the Route 29 footbridge around 9 a.m. on Nov. 12 by two suspects who asked the man for a cigarette, then stole his iPhone and wallet, according to police. Police reported there was no indication the suspects were armed. The alleged robbery happened less than a month after a woman reported her iPhone was stolen by three suspects on the footbridge around 8:35 p.m. on Oct. 20. Columbia: Howard County Police are looking for three suspects in connection with a robbery on the Route 29 footbridge who may also have been involved with an attempted break-in on Swift Stream Place. Just before 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 20, police were called to the 10300 block of Swift Stream Place for reports of men turning doorknobs along the hallway. Police said a person reported hearing his doorknob turning and when he looked out of his door, he saw three suspects headed toward Little Pawtuxent Parkway About ten minutes later, police say two men approached a woman walking on the Route 29 footbridge Saturday at about 8:35 p.m. The men grabbed her purse, according to police, but when the woman did not let go, they reached into her pocket …

Man was only fatality in single-vehicle crash.
A West Laurel man is dead after being involved in a single-vehicle crash in Burtonsville over the weekend, according to Montgomery County Police. The incident occurred along Route 29 Saturday afternoon near Howard County when Glenn Clarence Mills II, 56, lost control of his vehicle and drove off the roadway into a ravine over a small creek just north of the Route 198 intersection, according to a report in The Gazette. Mills was taken to Laurel Regional Hospital but died later that day from his injuries. Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit are unsure why Mills veered off the road, but have said it is not a result of Friday’s storm and subsequent power outages, according to The Gazette.
