When is the right time to talk to your kids about sex?
A large federal government survey of American sexual behavior produced results that may surprise many. It shows that more than a quarter of people interviewed in their late teens and early 20s had never had sex, and that number is seen as growing. According to a report in The Washington Post, the latest round of the National Survey of Family Growth found that among 15-to-24-year-olds, 29 percent of females and 27 percent of males reported they had had no sexual contact with another person - up from the 22 percent of both sexes in 2002. I think it depends on the child when the first conversation happens but in my opinion, it should be an ongoing conversation. The questions that my 7 year old has now about the different body parts and "how does the baby get in the mommy's belly?", is not the only conversation we will have in his lifetime. As he ages we will continue to discuss the "birds and the bees".   more ›
