Yael Grauer
I'm a full-time freelance writer, and my work has been featured in a wide variety of consumer magazines, trade journals and websites. A former middle school Language Arts teacher, I have also taught adult creative writing in Chippewa Falls and magazine writing at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis.
I write about everything from food and nutrition to health and wellness to social justice issues, and enjoy covering the sport of mixed martial arts. I serve as the Managing Editor of the Performance Menu: Journal of Health and Athletic Excellence. I've also worked with non-profit organizations, creative entrepreneurs and small businesses on search engine optimization (SEO), copywriting and communications.  I attended Shimer College, a Great Books school with an intensive core curriculum emphasizing classic literature and philosophy. Aside from reading and writing, I enjoy the outdoors immensely. I've studied plants and plant medicine, wilderness awareness and survival and tracking for years. I enjoy hiking, gardening, wildcrafting and camping. I'm a huge fitness enthusiast. I like lifting heavy things and training in Brazilian jiu jitsu and no-gi submission grappling. I'm also a huge fan of bluegrass music. With banjos. And I really, really like chocolate.
