Laurel Police to Observe National Night Out August 6

The event is designed to improve communication with the public and pass on information about law enforcement initiatives

From the City of Laurel:

Chief Richard P. McLaughlin and Mayor Craig A. Moe invite Laurel’s residents and businesses to join the men and women of the Laurel Police Department for the National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Granville Gude Park from 6:00 pm to 9:00 p.m.

The purpose of the National Night Out, which has been established in conjunction with various police organizations nationwide, is to inform the public about various police programs and community programs such as drug prevention initiatives and neighborhood watch groups that exist to keep people safe and fight crime in neighborhoods everywhere.

Events of the evening will consist of various demonstrations from the Police Department, the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department and the Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad, as well as activities for children.
